This is a continuation of a series of podcasts started in Episode #826
Anxiety is incredible unbelief in God’s ability to perform our task.
Charles:
When the relationship you have with God becomes so overwhelmingly great in proportion to the cause for anxiety, guess what, anxiety is like a dirty mud puddle. It just dries up and disappears.
John:
As I wrote it, and as I went through it, I process it in my life.
Chares:
Good
John:
I processed the past of it, I processed the current of it and an even deal with the future. And I have, I’ve been amazed at the work that the Holy Spirit has done through it.
Charles:
Amen
John:
Because even in this situation, we’ve got a lot of changes going on in the ministry, a lot of turning, and it can be anxious producing, because there’s a lot of unknowns.
Charles:
Absolutely
John:
And that’s really easy once you have things that you do not know, directions you don’t know, where you’re going to go, how things are going to work out. The enemy wants to come in and sow little seeds of doubt, seeds of fear, just give you the sleepless nights and make you just wrought up. Even this morning I had to say, “OK I am in this day. This is all I can do today.” So remaining in the moment is a huge, (huge, huge, huge) part of it. With the Spirit, walking with the Spirit. Where are you wanting me to go? What are you wanting me to do and how today, this moment, where am I going to go? I didn’t have the ability to do this afternoon this morning. I have this afternoon right now that’s all I have. And if I am if I’m thinking about what I’m gonna be doing tomorrow, in a month from now, and a year from now, all that does is work me up and can stress me out. So I’m real grateful. I’m grateful for the work of the Holy Spirit to eradicate it.
Charles:
Amen
John:
But it is being challenged pretty regularly. It’s being challenged in my life, but I realize that… I even saying here: “Anxiety is incredible unbelief in God’s ability to perform our task. Anxiety is unbelief in Christ very life to perform His Will and purpose in us. So if anxiety is unbelief then what is it that we were actively believing in?”
Charles:
Amen
John:
And I have to even repent and say, I repent for the unbelief that has caused the anxiety. That He won’t be there, He won’t be my savior, He won’t be the leader of my life. He won’t be my Father. He won’t be Abba. And working up all the the fears of that and developing a false faith that I can do it or that fear is going to keep me safe.
Charles:
Amen
John:
It never does! What has been some of your experience with anxiety.
Charles:
Well first of all the scripture tells us be anxious for nothing! Hear that. Be anxious for nothing! That is a huge command.
John:
Huge
Charles:
Huge, because there are so many things that invade our lives. One minute we are not anxious and then we get slammed with a new factor of life and we immediately have a reason to be anxious. But the scripture is very bold, very plain in that admonition: be anxious for nothing but in everything give thanks. So what that is telling me is one of the keys for Overcoming Anxiety is to look all of the things you have to be anxious for…
John:
Right, right
…and be thankful then that the grace and power of God is greater than all that list of fearful thing.
Absolutely, absolutely! Gratitude is huge in it.
Yes (Charles laughs)
It’s huge, you can’t do it with out gratitude.
Exactly!
Yeah, so tell me some of the experiences that you’ve had in your life or what you’ve witnessed in other’s lives about anxiety.
Well over the years, let me tell you, I’ve had a lot of legitimate reasons to be anxious and I have been. I would be lying if I were to say, I’ve never been anxious. I was ordained in 1949 and it wasn’t until 1977 that I experienced a fresh revitalizing of the power of the Holy Spirit. And when that happened, oh my whole life radically changed. I would say this that since 1977, my experience with the Holy Spirit, I e not been anxious.
Which is amazing.
It is! He gave me faith. He gave me assurance, confidence, that He was with me. I would say this, the cure for anxiety is it not a pill, not a medical appointment, the cure for anxiety, is relationship with the Lord. When the relationship you have with God becomes so overwhelmingly great in proportion to the cause for anxiety, anxiety is like a dirty mud puddle . It just dries up and disappears. You don’t even know, you’re not even conscious and aware when that moment came when it was gone.
Right, right
You won’t recognize it you just go on living life but you’re free from anxiety.
Which is absolutely beautiful.
I’ve been there! I have been there!

When the relationship you have with God becomes so overwhelmingly great in proportion to the cause for anxiety, guess what, anxiety is like a dirty mud puddle. It just dries up and disappears.
Beautiful banner over this work of the Spirit: “When the relationship you have with God becomes so overwhelmingly great…” FAITH SEES HIS PERFECTION. “Be anxious for nothing”, takes His grace-filled peace coming into my heart… in ‘our’ NOW… wrapped together in this moment. In the many things that come at us, whispering or shouting, there is ‘exaggeration’. It is the coin of the enemy. In His presence, purpose & heart…all exaggeration is gone. There is ONE pure stream of all that is true & real. The accurate Will, thought, word & way of God. I love the dirty mud puddle analogy. “It just dries up & disappears.” I glanced at my mirror & He stopped me there…’exaggeration’ (anxiety) was gone. I don’t know if He said it or i whispered it back to Him. There was nothing in the way, nothing piled up. We watch Jesus Live!
