Our Great Position as Bride of Christ
Episode #712
07/26/2020

With Martha Kilpatrick and hosted by John Enslow

This the continuation of a series of podcasts started in Episode #711
Martha’s upcoming book on the Bride of Christ is literally calling forth not only us as Bride, but our preparation to be that Bride. He is making us ready.

Martha:
You know, if I was looking at this and realizing the Lord has only Gomers. There’s no other kind of person.

John:
I was going to say, you know, it’s not like I have to look very far to, to find the Gomer nature. It’s not like I’m having to point anywhere. I can just look at myself, you know. But that’s one of the amazing things about this is…And, and you did the same thing in Chariot of Fire and really you’ve done it every book that you’ve done. Certainly Altogether Forgiven.

Martha:
What are you going to say?

John:
All and Only. Look the genius of, of your writing is that you take the deep spiritual principal and you make it deeply personal. And the way you do is, your, your writing is, is, it’s not fluffy. It’s very, it’s very core. It’s very essential. It’s, it’s like an essential oil, you know. You take the just the…You have to flesh it out. But your writing calls for the reader to flesh it out. Yeah, you could blow through a lot of your stuff and, and, you know, just say, “oh yeah, wasn’t that nice” but if you don’t see yourself in the Gomer state, if you’re looking outward and you’re trying to point it out in someone else or you’re trying to find it somewhere else in the world, you’re missing the point.

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
All of your, you know…Adoration, you’re, you’re literally calling the Mary nature and, and heart and passion out of us as faced with the Martha reality in us all.

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
And Chariot of Fire you put us right in the center. I mean if you can read that and not see yourself, I’m wondering if you’re, you’re really connected to your heart because you put us right in the center of this struggle between Ahab and Jezebel and the fear of Elijah and the quandary that Elijah was in. You put us in the middle of it. And, and, you know, yeah, sure, there’s going to be some people that read that and they, they more, it lights up more that they’re an Ahab or lights us more that they’re kind of a Jezebel. But it’s not like you can go through you writing and not have one of the aspects, no…, have all of the aspects touch your heart if your heart is open.

And so what you’re book on the, on the Bride…You’ve done a series on ReadMK.com, you’ve done a series on the Bride is Ready. You done…and the Preparation of the Bride. You’ve done a, a CD series. You’ve been doing this message for a long time.

Martha:
Um hmm. Many years.

John:
Many, many, many years. And this…You’re you’re…The message…Yes, you are, you are bringing a big picture. You’re saying, “Here’s the overarching theme of the entire Word, here’s the overarching theme of all of our lives, this is what we’re here for. But then you bring it down to my personal reality where it’s an invitation, where you’re calling me to deal with the very elements that make me into the Bride. And, and…

So that’s why…I mean I…We need prayer. We need your prayers because I, I believe that this book need to absolutely come out. I know you’ve got more to read. But I just…This, the, the the passion behind this one…You’re reading a, You’re reading a chapter of it. This is an experience. This is like, this is like getting a picture of somebody at Disney World and not experiencing the whole experience. You know what I mean? That’s a poor example but you’re giving a snapshot of something that’s so huge. And, and…I mean, your, your book here is literally calling forth not only the Bride of Christ, it’s calling forth the preparation of that Bride…

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
…and, and shows you, ok, this is the cost, this is what it’s going to cost you. These are, these are the things that prevent us from being that Bride.

Martha:
And those things, John, are hidden in the scriptures. He has put the blueprint right out there how to be made ready.

John:
Right.

Martha:
Why and what His part is.

John:
Right.

Martha:
And I’m fixing to read what His part.

John:
It’s a, it’s amazing…

Martha:
Right.

John:
…because…And, and you bring it in, into so many different Biblical characters. You show exactly this was preparation for the Bride and it’s ours. This is…Ruth, Esther. You know, there’s multiples. It’s not… Gomer. That you… bring in multiple areas and you say…But you don’t just cast this big huge net and say, “Oh, here’s the theological idea. Here’s a, here’s a grand birds eye view of it.” You, you come and you poke right at my heart and you say…you hook me. You hook me and you say, “Come.” And you make me hungry and, and I…That’s why I want this out because we all want to be the Bride of Christ because we know that there’s benefits in it. But there’s such a cost to it and, and why do we want it.

Martha:
Yes. Thank you.

John:
You’re going to tell all that.

Martha:
Yes.

John:
You’re revealing all of that. And so…

Martha:
And I have got really dozens of chapters to put together in some kind of form.

John:
Well, we need your prayers about this.

Martha:
Yeah, we really do because it’s…The enemy opposes it.

John:
This has been, this has been one of the hardest ones that you’re…

Martha:
It is without doubt the most difficult.

John:
Ok. And, and we have, we have really, we’ve fought, we’ve gone, we’ve gone on writing trips where we literally trying to isolate and, and get away so that there’s nothing grabbing our attention.

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
And so if you have a hunger for this book, I’m asking for your prayers because it is…See, and I told Martha, I said, “It’s there. It’s all, this is all there.” It’s not like she’s having to, to formulate it and, and, and develop it, and…This message is in you. I know that He has done it in your life. I could bring up any aspect and, and kind of tickle it and it just comes pouring out of you. So I know it’s there.

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
But to get it in book format and, and, you know, people may think, “Oh, well, you just sit down and write a book.” Well, no, that’s really not how that works. But the warfare and the, the struggle and, yes, all of it’s going to bless God. All of the struggle is going to bless God. All of the, the…

Martha:
The actual suffering.

John:
The suffering is going to bless God.

Martha:
Uh hmm.

John:
And it’s not like Esther and, you know, all these characters, it’s not like they just came poof, you know.

Martha:
Um hmm.

John:
They came ready. They were not ready. They had to be made ready.

Martha:
And many aspects of that readiness are in those stories. And it’s just… I, I am not capable of writing this book. I’ve told the Lord about a hundred times. But He’s graciously doing it and opening my eyes and showing me. And as usual giving me words as Paul talked about!  I Corinthians. So, thank you, thank you, John. It encourages me no end. Oh, my goodness.

John:
I, I mean when people actually read this or they listen to the CD series you did or they read the articles series you did, you cannot say that what I just said was not true because it is. It literally is just, it’s teeming with invitation. It’s teeming with reality and rubber meets the road kind of thing.

Martha:
And I want it to be teeming with hope and possibility.

John:
I wan, I want a…How can you give vision and at the same time giving vision relaying the cost and the, and the process…

Martha:
And the motivation.

John:
…and the motivation. Yeah, it’s, it’s pretty amazing.

Martha:
Well, and when I, when it hit me that there’s no other candidate for, for the Bride of the Lamb than a harlot, a Gomer; man or woman it’s a Gomer. And I laughed and I cried.

John:
Um hmm.

Martha:
And here’s what He gave me:

Candidates, only faithless Gomers. There is no other bridal type. Candidates for total redemption are those who need total transformation. Only in perfect redemption is a bride totally pure and all the perfection of that transformation is the power of unconditional love from the Husband-Lord Himself. He will prepare her and heal her and He said, He also said, “I will heal your apostasy. I will heal your faithlessness.” Oh, He will do it all. He will, He will have to make the Bride ready and there are just certain things the Bride has to do to cooperate with what He wants to do.

But…Then this is in the New Testament:

As Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word.  He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless. This mystery is great. I am speaking in reference to Christ and the church. Ephesians 5

John:
Hmm.

Martha:
Ok. I’ll just read one more thing.

God the great Husband in whose heart of bursting love, the very idea of husband originated will Himself solve the Gomer infidelity. He alone will cleanse every flaw of this harlot to make her the pure and holy companion for the spotless Lamb of God. He will do it all. He has it planned, set up, arranged, and ready. (John, Whew) And that’s the hope that He gives you. He…When you get into the Bride and the scriptures, what comes out of it is “Come, there’s hope.”

John:
Right.

Martha:
“There’s a way. I will show you. You can have this. You can spend eternity as a companion of the Savior on the throne.” Every single one of us born again can have this. It’s not that…It’s harder to avoid it…

John:
Right.

Martha:
…than to, than to step in and follow the Lamb.

John:
You’ve said that before.

Martha:
Really.

John:
Um hmm.

Martha:
It’s much harder to live missing it. It’s much more painful.

John:
Sure enough.

Martha:
So that’s a little taste.

Costly raiment, prepared, given, received, put on. Beneath the bridal gown? Redemption. Transformation. Wonder of wonders…beyond comprehension. Who could ever have imagined such a thing. WHO indeed! He came to fetch His Bride…prostitute on the streets. I walked those streets. Unfaithful, without allegiance—except to self. The terrible ‘trying’, that brought anguish, to His heart, & mine. “He told me everything i ever did.” And held me to His unfailing Love. To every extremity—heights unreached, depths unfathomed, limitless breadths, Christ exemplifies His pure, pulsing, powerful Love…& when there’s nothing, for a Gomer…she collapses…into HIM. What are those tears, pouring down between hearts pressed to
One-another? You know yours…& i know mine. And His? How can this be? Joy! God…SO LOVED… ALL GRACE! We wanted to know Love…….now, we do.

  3. Celia says:

Praying, praying, praying! We’ve got to let the Lord prepare us. We’ve got to let go of the death grip we have on the rags of bitterness, unforgiveness, the idolatry, the passivity, the spiritual adultry, the legalism, the phariseeism, the self pity, the anger and choose only Him, and let Him tend us and clothe us. We need to see the choice we are choosing and the beautiful Savior we are giving up by refusal to repent, while still thinking we are holding on to Him! Lord help us see! And let this book get out soon and give us eyes to see and ears to hear! Blessings and prayers!
