The Day of Suddenly
Episode #654
6/16/2019
With Martha Kilpatrick and hosted by John Enslow
Special Guest: Jennifer Wentzel
This is the continuation of a series of podcasts started in Episode #652.
Sowing and reaping are each seasonal. And if you sow obediently as God wills, you will find yourself reaping a day of suddenly, overcome by your blessings!
Martha:
This is one of the first things that came about, one of the first statements and it’s on the back cover. “We are driven to be something because we are terrified to be nothing.” And I think I could also say it, “We are driven to be something because we really at the bottom of it KNOW we’re nothing.” And that is a terrifying thing until you realize what freedom there is in being nothing. And that’s what the booklet is about.
Jennifer:
But don’t you think that’s the heart of what is captured in this?
Martha:
Yes, I do.
Jennifer:
That’s the place where the Holy Spirit is speaking to the person reading the book. That place deep down. That frightened child, because we are all very young when we have that realization of “Uh-oh,” you know? “This isn’t going to be pretty. This is not, this is not going to work well.” And in the light of day you just keep trying, you keep digging.
Martha:
Exactly.
Jennifer:
You keep trying. You keep…
Martha:
We go over the ground again…
Jennifer:
…pushing!
Martha:
…and again.
Jennifer:
Yeah! “If I try a little harder, if I do a little bit more…” Because that’s also the danger that it happens when you’re children.
Martha:
Uh-huh.
Jennifer:
Children will believe in the impossible. Unfortunately the reality of our inability is the thing that we say, “It’s not impossible to overcome,” right? And yet, and yet… And this, this is a part of that, Martha.
Martha:
All, all the philosophy of humanity is you can. “This, this, these are the seven, seven characteristics that you develop and you can.” Well, I live on the scripture that says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. But the trick is it’s through Christ.
John:
Um hmm.
Martha:
And He gives me strength for what He wants me to do. And sometimes He doesn’t give me strength for what I would prefer to do. So I am, I am reduced ever to meet that nothingness. I’ve met it time after time for years. So it’s finished today. We finished it and read it and considered it done today.
Jennifer:
That’s right! We are in conversations with the printer. We’re working out the details, getting the timetable from him, delivery estimates, and all the rest of it. But I know it’s so shocking the Lord came through. Who knew? (Laughs) He did what He wanted to do. He protected His message and it doesn’t follow that we, we need to get into it but I think that there was an awful lot of warfare that we didn’t really even think of as connected to this…
Martha:
Yes!
Jennifer:
…actually was…
Martha:
Yes!
Jennifer:
…connected to this. I think that’s…
Martha:
Yes. It was terrific warfare and opposition and distraction and disaster and all kinds of things but He reigned, and reigns through it all. And even, even the warfare was an amazing victory of the Lord.
There’s always a trial to live out the message so that the integrity is behind the message that you literally have lived out what you tell.
Jennifer:
Well, He’s very faithful to that. I’ve seen that with you in your writings, I’ve seen that with John and his writings. And when I wrote for the blog. I can’t tell you how many times I was whiplashed by my own words, you know.
Martha:
Um hmm.
Jennifer:
Either in the midst of it or further down the road. He is shocking sometimes…
Martha:
Um hmm.
Jennifer:
…in how faithful He is down to the last…
Martha:
Um hmm.
Jennifer:
…detail. Things that I don’t even remember, you know.
Martha:
And He never fails to get you where you want to be and where He wants you.
Jennifer:
Even if that’s not what…
Martha:
Even if…
Jennifer:
…even if you didn’t know…
Martha:
Right! Exactly!
Jennifer:
…exactly where that was going to be.
Martha:
So we, we’re celebrating kind of.
Jennifer:
And it’s an appropriate. I think it’s an appropriate front-runner to The Great Exchange.
John:
Hmm!
Jennifer:
And John, you saw when you came in you’re like, “Wow!” This is kind of like a condensed Exchanged Life. You even said that. New Covenant deal! And The Great Exchange is going to be another one; a real bomb going off for that and, and I just think that His order is perfect. So this thing coming out and, and, you know. We have no idea, we have no idea what it’s…
Martha:
Um hmm.
Jennifer:
…what it’s going to do and prepare a way for, ever.
Martha:
But we declare such a blessing on this little work; this little humble little book.
Jennifer:
Humble yet high!
Martha:
And that’s, that’s perfect. So we, we will be announcing it’s, it’s arrival.
Jennifer:
They will see it down in the transcription.
Martha:
Yes! And it will be!
Jennifer:
Yes!
Martha and Jennifer:
And it will be there!
Jennifer:
You will see it on Facebook. You will see it on Shulamite.com. We will… You will see it!
Martha:
And receive it.
Jennifer:
And receive it. That’s it.
John:
It’s just a day and I’m, I’m trying to think of the word. I’ve been sitting here for like five minutes thinking, “What is that word? What is the word about the immediate; the, the done, the finished, the work of…” And I cannot…and there’s a scripture and I cannot think of it.
Martha:
Everything we do has already been finished. And I think that’s what faith is. That faith is it’s done. If He calls for it, it’s already finished in His economy, in His provision, in His gifting. So to see the end is to know that it is done. And I think that’s somehow it’s the part of what we’re going through is that it’s finished. You rest because it’s all finished. Everything is finished. That’s what Jesus meant on the cross. “It is finished.” And what God begins and He began it one morning where I just said, “I am nothing. Good morning. My name is nothing.” (Laughs) And it began a little bit hilariously and it was finished then.
John:
I think it’s the, the…I think what I’m trying, the word I was trying to think is “The day of Suddenly.”
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
It’s like a day of suddenly. And I think that they, they call that, they say that the Pentecost was a day of suddenlies. It just…
Martha:
It happens!
John:
It happens!
Martha:
Oh, it’s like Jesus saying, “I am coming and I’m coming quickly.”
John:
Um hmm, um hmm.
Martha:
Yes.
John:
You can expect the Holy Spirit to come upon you suddenly. It’s a day of suddenlies.
Martha:
Wow! And that’s what we experienced with this…
John:
That’s what we had…
Martha:
…where we are.
John:
…that’s what we had with, with The Great Exchange and this booklet. It is a day of suddenly. You came down with a suddenly. You didn’t come down with something that took you, you know, months and years and, and anguish and, and birthing, you came with suddenly.
Martha:
Sudden appearance of the Lord.
John:
Yes. And, you know, though it took me two weeks to get it out, it was a day of suddenly with my book.
Martha:
Uh-huh! Oh, it really was.
John:
I was amazed. Weren’t you amazed?
Martha:
Oh, I was amazed.
John:
I mean you could sit there and watch it and I’m going…
Martha:
I watched you.
John:
I kept on saying, “This is being done!” I mean, I mean, I’m not, I’m just sitting here…
Martha:
Letting it!
John:
…letting it happen. So I, I, and then, then with our friends moving here it was a day of suddenly. It, their house was available suddenly and it wasn’t something they had to build. It wasn’t something they had to force. It wasn’t there… so…They just… It was suddenly.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
Boom!
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
And I think that’s where we’re at. I think that’s where we’re at in the Spirit.
Martha:
I wonder if it’s a sign of the End Time?
John:
Well, you know, He has to do…
Martha:
He has to!
John:
…things quickly.
Martha:
He has to.
John:
And so I’m excited about the day of suddenlies. We’ve done a lot of the day of waiting. We’ve done a lot of the day of, of…
Martha:
Sowing!
John:
…sowing! We’ve done a lot of the, the work…
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
…of rest. And…
Martha:
And the work of seeking.
John:
Yes, we have. And…
Martha:
And praying.
John:
And hearing.
Martha:
You, you taught me. You pray fervently over your writing for it to come.
John:
I have to (laughs)!
Martha:
Uh-huh! I do too. But it’s like…Oh what is… Wait a minute. It’s the promise in Deuteronomy when you obey, your blessings will overcome you.
John:
There you go! That’s it, that’s it. That’s the day of suddenly; an overcoming of your blessing.
Martha:
Yeah.
The Day of Suddenly – Episode #654 – Shulamite Podcast
Your life will have plenty of waiting in it. Waiting on the Lord is not seasonal; it is a daily discipline. But sowing is a season, and so is reaping. And if you sow patiently and obediently as God wills, you will soon find yourself reaping a day of suddenly.
By allowing ourselves to be “nothings” we become the “somethings” desired by our Lord for His glorious purposes. Therefore, there is no fear in giving our lives over to Christ Jesus, as “nothings”—therein is the victory!
As always, thank you for modeling how faithful service to the Lord actually lives out.
Thank you so much Linda for your encouragement. I really pray this booklet is going to have a deep impact on your life! Bless you and thank you for following the podcasts!
