In This Time Test the Spirits

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Martha:
We just finished a CD of the Month. It’s about the blood of Jesus. So rich. We’re sitting here with a communion table that we already finished communion. So, we’re talking about the blood and all the depth of the enormous, amazing power of the blood in our lives, in our bodies, and in our groups. And I was anxious to tell another thing I learned and it’s one of my life sections of the Bible and I’ve been there for years but I didn’t see it what I’m going to tell you. Ok, here it is:
I John 4:4
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;
The criterion is the name.
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.
We have to hear this. I can look back over the years with several people and though they professed to be a Christian you never heard of a relationship with Jesus and never heard the name Jesus come out.
John’s art teacher once gave us a tape to discern and we listened to the whole thing. Somebody who’s extremely spiritually successful or shall I say in the world extremely honored and respected in the world. We listened to the whole thing. Do you remember John?
John:
And the name was completely absent.
Martha:
Uh huh.
John:
He never mentioned it at all.
Martha:
Never mentioned Jesus at all. Influence over youth, influence over the world and other countries, big huge ministry.
John:
He never mentioned it.
Martha:
Could be a spirit of antichrist in that whole movement. I was just saying if you’re in a relationship with Jesus, He is in your mouth and in your conversation and in your life and sayings and everything; Jesus is there.
And I knew in Israel years ago for some reason I knew the world was moving toward this. And I remember at the time sitting in a garden on the Gethsemane and saying, “This is what you watch for is it about Jesus or has He been eliminated?” And so much is “good stuff” without any reference or base in Jesus.
And there’s one person I’ve been with for years I have sent this person about maybe six times and I have said, “Go get a relationship with Jesus. You don’t have that! Go away and get a relationship with Jesus.”
I John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.
This is how you’ll know-is the name of Jesus, is it about Jesus, is it revelation of Jesus, the word of Jesus? I promise you there can be huge worship, huge enthusiasm and no participation with Jesus. You have to watch it because it sounds good, looks good.
Every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.
I’m going to work on this passage and look into it in the Greek and Aramaic.
This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them.
Meaning the agents of antichrist.
Because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error. The Spirit of Truth or the spirit of antichrist.
Ok, I don’t know how to tell this story. I was frustrated with someone that I had invested in and this person never got it, never heard me, never listened to me, never knew my words, never anything. I said, “God what on earth is this? What am I doing wrong? This person hears nothing and just goes the opposite way.” I don’t mean they have to do what I say… but if you’re going to be my disciple, at least listed, ok. That’s not much to ask.
And He said to me this very scripture, “I John 4:6” And I went, “I don’t know what that is. It was that verse.
We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error or deception.
But the most amazing thing I just read to you is:
This is the spirit of antichrist which you’ve heard is coming now (2000 years ago) is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and you have overcome them because…
Why? How could it be that I have overcome the antichrist?
…because greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world.
Do you get it? It’s given. It’s a given! Christ dwells in me. I’m His servant. The antichrist is overcome. It’s a gift. It’s not a job to do. It’s a given. It’s a finished product. It’s over, it’s done, it’s accomplished. The antichrist for your life so long as Christ is the head and center of your whole being you have already overcome. Why? Because you’re indwelt by the One who overcame on the cross. That’s another issue of enormous exciting liberty and victory that has been handed to us by the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross to come as a human, die and be resurrected into an indwelling life by the Holy Spirit.
So, I got real excited. I don’t have to worry about the antichrist. Are you in Christ? Then it’s done. The antichrist cannot touch you. Overcome means done in. Means a lot of things. Means I win. Means I have won. I’m the victor. I’m the top dog here because the antichrist has been eliminated by Jesus.
Now those who don’t believe that will be eaten alive and have the horrors of the life of the antichrist. It’s all a matter of do you believe what Jesus did and what His word says. Do you believe that by revelation which I got a revelation? Oh, My goodness. I’ve read this many times. I never got that it is an accomplished fact that the antichrist is overcome but not for everyone; only His followers and those indwelt by Him who live by the name, love the name, speak the name.
John:
If you’re in line with the antichrist, there’s no protection from the antichrist because if you’re not in Christ, you’re anti-Christ so “You’re not for Me, you’re against Me.” So, literally why would you have any protection from the antichrist if you’re in line with him? You literally are…
Martha:
And it’s clear in the scripture that many Believers will fall for it. And how you would fall is to believe that you can’t fight such a creature that is too big, too evil, too ugly, too powerful and not under “He that is in me is You.” That’s nothing to Him. He’s already done it. He overcame and He gave that position inside of us. We are overcomers inside by the power of Jesus within. Oh, my goodness. There’re so many riches we’ve got to have in the coming days. We’ve got to pursue God for these great promises and great provisions; the unsearchable riches of Christ. We’ve got to search or at least I believe we should.
John:
I wrote a post that’s coming out about living listening, to live listening.
Martha:
Oh, yes!
John:
And that we have entered into an age where there is a vital necessity to listen to the voice of God. In the past we’ve walked in a grace bubble which was kind of like swimming with floaties. But now it is become our vital necessity to live listening. Not that listening to the Lord in obedience to Him wasn’t always important but now our listening has become a life-or-death reality.
And I talk about, literally about, discerning people and I said that if 2020 revealed anything to us is that people lie and that which is not shocking for the discerning but people are being exposed, situations are being exposed horribly and all these sharp dressed leaders with smooth tongues have been unearthed for the mountain of corruption in their actions. But we can’t trust somebody.
The whole time I was writing this I was thinking about and I talk about at the end about the Chinese Christians that if you’re a Chinese Christian, you just can’t go and run your mouth anywhere. You have to be discerning of what you’re saying because you don’t know if the person that you’re telling something is not going to get you killed or thrown into a work camp. And so, the whole time I was writing this I was thinking about the fact that there’s the vision I was kind of going towards. I never specifically talk about it but I know that we will come in this county to an era that literally you will have to look at someone and know by the Spirit who they are.
