All the Things We Need Are in the Kingdom
Episode #695
03/29/2020
God promises that all the things we truly need are found in the kingdom. He provides all for His children! But when crisis comes, do we remember His word?
Martha:
So this ironic and hysterical and funny thing is, that’s going on among us, is exposing us. And what it’s, what, what crisis, crisis does is it exposes who you love and what you love and whose love you love. And we’re finding out that we don’t believe. We’re finding out that we don’t know what to do. We’re finding out that we are, we are children afraid and panicked and we’re doing funny, strange things – including me.
But the fight is not usually against the enemy. It’s against my flesh. And to conquer the flesh is to believe in the Spirit and to surrender to the Spirit.
So this is a time to watch God and watch for Him and listen to Him, to have Him show us who He is. And who He is, is going to be everything. He says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”
What we’ve been discovering is to be in the kingdom is to do the will of God. The will is the kingdom and the kingdom is the will. And if we pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”, the kingdom is the will of God and when you are in the will of God, you’re in the kingdom. If you’re not in the will of God, you’re not in the kingdom. And I have this booklet on line called Kingdom Safety, which right now on is, is very relevant, isn’t it, John?
John:
Apropos, very apropos. Absolutely.
Martha:
And it, what it’s, what the little booklet is about, is if you’re in the kingdom, you’re safe.
John:
Well, you’ve got the, the Kingdom Safety. You’ve got Kingdom Children.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
It’s all… You’ve, you’ve got a, you’ve got a wealth ready to go basically speaking to this realm.
Martha:
Yeah.
So I’m, I’m just real excited about knowing Him and knowing that His names are real and living and death is stalking but life is calling and life is in His names. So, hallelujah! He is called the wisdom of God, the wonderful counselor, mighty God, redeemer. All of those names represent who He is and what we need. Our need is unending and His giving and His being is unending.
And so we, if we will be in the will of God, we will be in the kingdom. And if we’re in the kingdom, we will have all these things, whatever things that is. It may… I’ve always believed that all these things meant more than just food and clothing.
John:
Well, you know the cool thing is, is that you’ve got, you know, we’ll say 200 plus names here that tells us who He is according to our need. And, and why would He do that? And I believe the reason why He would do that is because He wants us to focus on His need, knowing that He already has our need covered, because that’s His character. And so I can, I can literally bank my needs and my, my needs-fulfillment in His character, in His person. Every single need I have is in Him so that I can focus not on getting my needs met, which is…
Martha:
Right! Oh good!
John:
It makes me so paltry. It makes me disgusting. It makes me… Oh, it’s awful. But I can, I can literally look for His need and look for, for satisfying His need because I already know mine are all done.
Martha:
Oh, John.
John:
Mine are already fulfilled.
Martha:
I was praying yesterday or the day before and I said, “Oh, God, I’m always telling You what I need. What do You need today? I want to know what You need.” Good grief, John.
John:
That’s it right there.
Martha:
The Holy Spirit is… Oh!
John:
That was it.
Martha:
Uh huh. That was it.
John:
That’s exactly what it is.
Martha:
Oh, wow.
John:
Which is exciting.
Martha:
Oh, that is.
John:
Because I, I don’t want to be a, a, a panhandler of the kingdom.
Martha:
Um hmm.
Well, and you know, we’ve, we’ve been traveling so little. We’ve left our, our waitress ministry. Did you know that? Oh my dear, dear friend Pauline wrote me about hinting at that. And so this precious waitress came at our table and, and we made a mess of the table and so when she came to clean it, I said, “Just please give me a rag and I’ll clean it for you. We made such a mess!” The food… The table was small and the food was going between us. And she said, “Oh, no. We’re in this together.”
John:
Um hmm.
Martha:
And I said, “Oh, there’s the quote. ‘We’re in this together.’”
John:
Yeah. And she… And, and those words that she spoke she knew, you knew, I knew, we all knew exactly what we were talking about.
Martha:
Yes.
John:
That it wasn’t just about we’re in cleaning your table together. This is, this…
Martha:
Right. It was eternal.
John:
Well, it was not only eternal it was, it was, “Listen, I know what’s going on out there. I know what’s happening.” I know that, that her, her income is going to be seriously…
Martha:
Oh yeah.
John:
…hurt because of the fact that, you know. I mean… We were told that this hotel will go down by 2 percent by Tuesday, the occupancy.
Martha:
And there, everybody that you spoke to was saying, “I’ve only been given two days to work this week.” And she had only been given one.
John:
One day.
Martha:
As a waitress!
John:
Right. And so when she looked and she said, “We’re in this together,” I realized she was saying, “This… We’re going to make it through this thing.”
Martha:
It’s a whole thing.
John:
“We’re going to do this.” You know. And, and, and I, I, you know, I don’t know if she was a Christian or not. She felt like a Christian.
Martha:
She did. I said, “I’m going to pray for your income.”
John:
And she wasn’t… She was loving it.
Martha:
Uh huh.
John:
Yeah. So…
Martha:
So we had a waitress encounter in the… (laughs).
John:
Yeah.
Martha:
So even on, right here on this podcast, we’ve discovered the Holy Spirit was doing the same thing. We want to live not for our need. That’s brilliant the way you put it. We have lived for His need…
John:
His need.
Martha:
…in this hour for His world.
John:
Because I already know because of His character and because of His names…
Martha:
His promises.
John:
…and His promises, that my needs are fulfilled. My needs are set.
Martha:
And I put down this verse that I was trying to find. It says, “You have exalted Your name above Your promise and Your word.”
John:
Hmm.
Martha:
So that means if the word is spoken, the promise exists.
John:
Wow.
Martha:
So the way to know Him is obedience. And I hand the mike over to you, John, for your two posts, which I cried over and blessed and got excited about. Wonderful, two wonderful posts. I really wanted them to go up today. But…
John:
So they’re going to, they’re going to start up tomorrow and tomorrow it’s “Fears Erupt as Waves of the Coronavirus Hit the USA.” And, and I, I love where I went with both of these posts. I love the direction that the Lord kind of touched me on with them. And… Because, like I said earlier on this podcast, it, it’s about listening and it’s about hearing. And so we’ve, we’ve been sitting, we’ve been waiting, we’ve been, you know, listening because, number one, we’re, we’re writing the books and, and getting those ready, but also we’re having to be in the will of God. We’ve having to know what the will of God is and…
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
…our individual circumstances and situations. And so I’m, I’m, I can’t wait for people to respond and, and get these and, and, and read them. By the time this goes up they’ll both be up. The, the first one is going to go up on March 16th. And then the next one is on the 19th. And I pray you really are blessed by them.
Martha:
I want to know a little bit more about what’s, what you write about in those two messages. Give us some quotes from your writing.
John:
Well, I mean, here’s one, one little section here: It says, “The reason Christ hated fear is because fear prevents us from listening. We are deaf when we are in fear. We are called to hear and obey, not assume and react. The waters of life become so muddled when we are in fear.” And, and basically I say that fear is one of Satan’s most powerful weapons because we are sheep and because once we start running, once we get into the hysteria, we have what’s happening in our grocery stores. We, you know, the shelves are being emptied with stuff just because you’re panicked.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
And…
Martha:
Oh that was a picture of sheep, John.
John:
It’s sheep.
Martha:
Wow. We know that one well, don’t we?
John:
Totally, totally.
Martha:
They can’t be, they can’t even be rounded up once they get afraid.
John:
No, they’re, they’re out of their mind.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
And, and, you know, I, I go back to the, the time when the sheep were on the, the snow bank and I had to go up. And basically, I was trying to lure them down so they didn’t break their little legs off of the icy… It was literally slick.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
It was ice. I was trying to woo them down, woo them down. We’re going… It… I mean, what, it was two hours?
Martha:
At least.
John:
I was, it was awful. I’m freezing. The stupid sheep wouldn’t listen to me. But that’s exactly the point. They wouldn’t listen to their shepherd.
Martha:
Right. They trusted you implicitly every other time.
John:
But they did not…
Martha:
But not when they are scared.
John:
…because they were utterly, stark raving fear. They could not hear me. And then I, like I’ve, I’ve said over and over I had to become a greater fear than what they feared. I had to become a… I mean, I scared them. That’s how I got their attention is I literally became a, a monster for them, so that they would run and go to where I wanted them to go. So… And I’m wondering, with all the scenarios that are happening right now, if God isn’t doing something very similar.
Martha:
Wow.
John:
He’s so sovereign and he’s so over everything. He will use our fears just like I was able to use their fear and was able to become, you know… He will do that. He will use things that make us afraid to get us in line.
Martha:
Um hmm.
John:
And sometimes, you know… Our fears are powerful. Our fears move us quickly. Thank about… I mean… We’ve seen memes and pictures of people with trucks full of toilet paper. I mean, you know, like, like it’s going to save their life!
So something’s going on.
Martha:
You know, John, I feel like in the last few years, I don’t know, we’ve experienced the kingdom provision.
John:
Absolutely.
Martha:
And we get, sometimes, I will get things I didn’t know I needed.
John:
Right.
Martha:
And it’s not a matter of even asking. It’s that you’re in the Father’s will doing His, His will and obeying His work…
John:
Right.
Martha:
…and so He is taking care of everything…
John:
Um hmm.
Martha:
…that I don’t even know I need.
John:
Exactly.
Martha:
And, and I, I think about the flood in my house was disastrous. It destroyed… Was accidental and it…
John:
Thousand and thousands of dollars, and destroyed books.
Martha:
$4000 worth of books and not insured. And wrecked my house for several months, at least three months.
John:
It was horrible.
Martha:
And when it was put back together…
John:
It was better than it was before.
Martha:
…it was, it was things that I couldn’t afford to do and wouldn’t have chosen to spend money that way if I’d had it.
John:
Right.
Martha:
And it was, it’s absolutely exquisite and beautiful and orderly and clean. And that was given to me through some suffering.
John:
Right.
All the Things We Need Are in the Kingdom – Episode #696 – Shulamite Podcast
God promises that all the things we truly need are found in the kingdom. He provides all for His children! But when crisis comes, do we remember His word or do we fall apart in fear? A crisis exposes what we love, and who we love, and whose love we love.
Thank you John and Martha for being used by the Lord to deliver thIs message of encouragement. We all need to be focused on His promises for those who are in the kingdom. I was just sharing yesterday with one of my son-in-laws about us needing to be like little children. Watching my grandchildren as we gathered and how they just played and had a great time without a care in the world. That is where He desires us to be as well. I think I’ll go back and read “Kingdom Kids” again! Also, “ask God what He needs” . . . so powerful and humbling.
God bless!!
It’s amazing to see the More God both Gives & Does in the middle of seemingly less, seeming confines & impossibilities. The unexpected brings His Unexpected. How true it is so many times that a crisis, like your flooded home Martha, brings what God wants to Give beyond any thought of ours. And what a display it is of His dwelling place in our inner chamber…& there we see & join His need. That’s our undistracted place. Your words John, open wide our hearts to “look for satisfying His need because I already know mine are all done.” Honestly, some of the needs are crisis level, so way beyond us…oh how that opens eyes to God. And then to discover the many ways God orchestrates to reveal His Love, in place & provision we find we’re moved into, without realizing it at the time. I’m overwhelmed at all God is Giving & Doing…we watch Him as He ever fills & spills. A friend calls it “His Biggerness”! I go back to John’s ‘we are vessels of His Love’. I want to shout, Get ready Church….for Reality brought by the Spirit!
