The Torn Veil and the Holy Spirit

In our personal temples the torn veil has been rent for the glory of the Holy Spirit to come out of us.

I preached at a church in a church in Stewart, FL; Revive Church. Young new church; former Baptist pastor; went to Columbia, South America where the Holy Spirit is really out of the box. This Baptist pastor and his wife stood in the line for the laying on of hands. They ended up on the ground first of all. They ended up getting filled with the Holy Spirit which is what God intends anyway. His church now in Stewart, FL is called Revive Church. I was preaching there three or four Sundays ago and my sermon topic was Your Reset Button; that God wants to take each of us back to an earlier period in life.
I remember the lines of an old hymn: O for a Closer Walk With God.
Where is the blessedness I knew
When first I saw the Lord?
Where is the soul-refreshing view
of Jesus and His Word?
Return, O holy Dove, return,
sweet messenger of rest;
I hate the sins that made Thee mourn,
and drove Thee from my breast.
This is part of my every morning prayer:
The dearest idol I have known,
whate’er that idol be,
help me to tear it from Thy throne,
and worship only Thee.
I can’t tell you the name. I can quote it for you but I can’t tell you the name. It was in our old Primitive Baptist hymn book one hundred years ago. Do you remember the name Cecile? Those old hymns were so rich. They are beyond the little jingles we get today.
Let me explain this. The veil in the temple of Jesus day that was split from top to bottom at the moment of the crucifixion, the veil was over seventy feet tall. It was not a little shower curtain type veil. It was a monstrously huge veil and was several inches thick besides being so immensely tall. In splitting the veil God according to our theology was showing that He was ending the ancient priest going under the veil to make atonement for the sins of Israel; that the atonement for the sins of all mankind had just been made on the cross and that never again would God be accepting the Jewish ceremonies as atonement for sin.
And then it was years after my own ministry begin, I was meditating on that thought and I felt that the Holy Spirit asked me the questions: “Now that the veil has been split, Charles, what is free to come out of the temple?” And then the immediate thought I had in a typological way the Holy Spirit is no longer shielded behind the veil. The veil is open. The power, glory of the Holy Spirit is now free to come forth.
And then He impressed me that that’s what He wants to happen in our personal temples that the veil is to be torn and the glory of the Holy Spirit is now free to come out of us. And that in hands-on ministry when there are miraculous things done, people are healed, restored, whatever that what is now free is the Holy Spirit inside our temple is released to come out. And that’s the reason we see signs and wonders take place.
That was the explanation that was given to me and I believe it because each of us are temples; we each have a temple veil. It doesn’t matter whether we are a man or a woman “these signs will follow those who believe. In My name they lay hands on the sick and the sick will recover.”
Signs and wonders are to be done through the laying on of hands. But the prerequisite to the laying on of hands in typology is your veil must be torn. What is going to tear your veil? I think with each of us individually it’s different and personal but I do believe, I do believe there is a moment in the work of God that our veil is torn and the Shekinah Glory housed therein is now free to come out and to achieve all the works that the Holy Spirit has intended to be done.
I personally believe that’s the reason that healings and other signs and wonders occur through the laying on of hands. If you have a question whether or not your veil is torn or has been sufficiently torn then come back to the Lord and ask “Lord, am I in need of something further internally in me? Is there something still yet undone that You want done? And, if so, and if I am not yielded then right now is my deliberate moment of doing so. Grab this moment, Lord, rend my veil; use me in ministry however You choose.” And then get out of God’s way. 🙂
It’s not a male thing, it’s not a female thing. It’s a God thing. Because I’ve been in ministry myself where women were ministering and the power of the Holy Spirt was as strong and evident as with Kenneth Hagan or Derek Prince of some other male. It is not a male or female thing. It’s simply the laying on of hands. And it is to achieve in a Believer and that’s the only qualification is that you be a believer.
Lord, emphasize that to us now. Clear all of the static out of the way that we can function full capacity, full bore of all that You’ve ever intended to do with us. Just do it Lord. Achieve Your perfect results with us. In Your name, Jesus. Amen
